Last October 21-23, 2006 Mr. Mario "Toots" Fungo was in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte for his Philippine Peace tour in Northern Luzon.

His stay there was hosted by Ms. Minifred Pascual Gavino, who was also the point person who took charge of organizing the local folks and inviting representatives from different sectors to the event.

Preceding the Peace Pole planting event was a press conference held at the local radio station where the event was announced. Mr. Toots was warmly accommodated by Ms. Gavino, her mother--Mama Mia-- and their assistant, Cora.

Peace Pole planting and dedication event was held on October 22, 2006. A short program was held in front of the City Hall.

The Peace Pole was erected at the very heart of the city within the public plaza on October 22, 2006 (Sunday). The participants -- which consisted of government officials, leaders and representatives from the civic groups, the parish, and the youth organizations-- formed a circle of peace around the Peace Pole as they unveiled the monument and blessed it with prayers and songs.
